Danielle Klingelhofer and I started writing the song in January 2021, during the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic. What began as a response to that particular moment gradually became something much larger. We wanted to write a song that reminded us we were made for community, that we are stronger together than apart, and that unity is something to be lived. Rooted in our Christian faith, the song grew from the conviction that our differences need not divide us, but can instead become part of something richer when we choose to walk together.

From the beginning, we imagined the song as something joyful. We wanted people to sing, dance, and participate in a space where different backgrounds could be celebrated together. Recording sessions took place throughout 2021, followed by filming in 2022 with collaborators who generously gave their time and creativity. Looking back, One Heart One Mind became far more than our first original song. It laid the foundation for O.N.E Band and, in time, for the community that would become CommunauThé.
